AD1 Module Reflection

In just 14 short weeks, I finished my Architectural Design module. As the saying goes, time flies when you're enjoying yourself. This module required me to learn and understand specific principles and express different styles of work, creatively and technically. I learned the importance of spacial studies and architectural conventions to take into consideration such as ergonomics and anthropometrics when creating a space or building a structure. I learned and practised new methods of joinery and carpentry during the construction of my second project. I would like to thank my lecturer Miss Yan Yee and my tutor, AR Chong Sue May for always providing me with the necessary feedback to keep improving my work and for being so patient while attending to all my queries.

Throughout the whole experience, I faced several challenges which in the long run will help me develop the quality of work I produce. I find that the biggest challenge I face every assignment is the inability to come up with fresh ideas. Hence, the initial stages of the project get dragged for a longer than necessary period, which in result causes me to have to work harder and faster to ensure I meet deadlines.

I found that developing ideas with friends while preparing preliminary sketches helps speed up the process as we are able to bounce ideas of each other.

Among the many Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGCs) that came into play multiple times during this module were, Lifelong Learning, Communication Skills, Thinking & Problem Solving Skills, and Citizenship & Global Perspectives.
